Doctor Who - Character Building Toys

Doctor Who. A name the has meant children hide behind the sofa for many years past and present. To compliment the range of 5/6 inch actions figures toy manufacturer Character Options have on the market place a range of construction based toys featuring the beloved time was launched in 2011.

There have so far been 2 series of figures featuring The eleventh incarnation of the Doctor Matt Smith with companions and aliens from the series. A number of play sets and exclusive figures have also been released. These have proved very popular with both children and Adult collectors. (Certain rare figures have been sold on auction websites for £100's ).

Figures were sold as blind blister packs, and even with a good feel of the pack, it was not always easy to discover which figure might be inside. Figures need to be assembled and the bits for many could not be distinguished. Packs were RRP £1.99

Series 1 Figures

Series 1 Figures Included The Doctor, The Doctor in Blue Shirt, Amy Pond, Red Dalek, Blue Dalek, Smiler, Silurian, Weeping Angel, Screaming Angel and Cyber man.

The Series1 figures were also accompanied by 5 Super Rare figure variants

These Figure variants were Amy in Green Jacket, Doctor in Football Kit, Translucent Angel, Raggedy Doctor and Silurian warrior.

Series 2 figures Include The Doctor with Red Tie, Amy Variant, Rory Williams, River Song, Police Uniform Amy Pond, Roman Centurion Rory, Vampire Girl, The Silent, White Dalek Supreme, Cyber Leader.

Because of the whole success of the collectors market for Doctor Who figures a range of Classic figures is available. This is reflected in the Character Building range. An 11 pack on ALL the Doctor's incarnations is available £20. Doctors 1 -11 are included with relevant sonic screwdrivers. The set comes in a Tardis style display box (for those who keep it mint on card) but like the other single figures, each figure has its own stand.

Packs of Red daleks and Cyber men have also been available.

To Launch the whole series 3 figures were also available in a certain paper.

The Latest offering from the Character Building range is the temporal blast sets

Time is fractured!…and now the Vortex is being invaded by the Doctor’s arch enemies the Daleks and the Cybermen! Using stolen Time technology, they could do untold damage to Time itself, so the Doctor with his companions by his side must venture into the Vortex to find and stop them. Each Enemy is protected by a bubble of Temporal shielding made up of four shields. The Avengers Toys and figures

With 2012 seeing the Avengers film release, there was always going to be action figures. We currently have the cartoon series on one of the Disney channels and we have already had The Hulk, Thor, Iron Man (1 & 2) plus Captain America in the past few years. Now all of these Marvel Super Hero's are banded together to save the world.

Euro 2012 Trading cards and Stickers

With the upcoming UEFA Euro 2012 football championship in Poland and The Ukraine, there is always a good amount of collectable merchandise around. And where would we be without the trading card or the stickers. A playground favourite and a craze that is ever present.

The Euro 2012 collections will feature players from all the teams playing including England, Spain, Holland, Germany plus host nations Poland and Ukraine. With the trading cards and stickers launching earlier than teams are finalised there can sometimes be the odd player how is featured in the sets that doesn't actually play in the tournament but overall, it has been my experience that the teams are very accurate.

Character Building HM Armed Forces Toys and Figures

In the construction toy market Lego have been in front for so long in makes you wonder why other companies would want to join in. But, when you see what character options have done with the character building range in makes a really nice addition to the construction toy market.

The HM Armed forces was probably an easy choice for this range as Character have the main range of figures for HMAF.

So far there have been 2 series of figures featuring figures from the RAF, Royal Navy and Army. Series 1 had 8 figures and series 2 had 12 figures.

Deadly 60 - Character Building

 

The CBBC nature show Deadly 60 presented by Steve Backshall has taken the step into the realm of toys. Character Building, also known for the ranges of Doctor Who and HM Armed forces character building has now taken a third title.

The range will undoubtedly grow, but the initial offering looks like this will be a nice addition to the construction toy category and give children a different avenue.

Wave One of the figures includes 15 different figures with several variants of Steve Backshall himself and a number of different animals that have featured in the show. Animals include a snake, a wolf, a rhino and more.

To accompany the figures there are 3 play sets. This are from different natural habitats, Jungle, Ocean and Mountain and each set comes complete with a mini figure that lives in habitat.
